About me
Linda has been training dogs since 1982 and working with
Animal Services, just as long. Her training now includes basic
and advanced obedience, basic agility and rally, tricks and fun nose
work. Her breed has long been the German Shepherd Dog, and she is
a Christian , hence the name Good Shepherd Dog Obedience.
Classes
for Good Shep were begun as a realization that dogs that are turned in
by owners to Animal Services are often done for behavioral problems.
If we can intervene in time, we might be able to save some dogs'
lives.
Linda has trained in Search and Rescue, personal
protection work, teaching puppy raisers for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
As a Humane Educator for over ten years she teaches children
responsible pet ownership, dog and cat care, bite prevention and
empathy for others. Her obedience
classes, at Animal Services have been going on since 1983.
Her
techinques have evolved into treat training, clicker training, and
positive reinforcement. She still believes that a strong pack
leader gives dogs a sense of security and that good trainers show dogs
behaviors patiently and have consistent consequences for their behavior
(both positive and negative).
Trainers need to always be patient
and consistent with their dogs. Her classes include lots of
socialization and opportunities to proof your dog on the excercises.
